The masterplan’s design is based on ideas from the twenty-first century about reinventing urbanism by moving away from the car-dependent, ultra-high-rise, suburban sprawl to a low-rise, high-density housing that focuses on landscape, well-being, and community-based living with a variety of horizontal and vertical green plug-ins built within the house volumes.

The Landscape

In order to create clusters with a strong sense of neighbourhood, the landscape design must be centred around a common area that allows for cosy pockets and has a variety of spillover places. SAV, a multinational architecture, interior, and landscape design practise with offices in London and India, carefully crafted 7 Kolgaon. Amita Kulkarni and Vikrant Tike, who both studied and taught at the AA School in London, founded SAV in 2011 and serve as its co-founders. The pair has collaborated on many RIBA Award-winning cultural, educational, residential, hospitality, and high-rise projects during their ten years of employment in London with some of the top architectural and design firms, including Zaha Hadid Architects, Foster and Partners, Terrance Conran, Hawkins/Brown, and Karakusevic Carson Architects.

They now bring their experience, methodology, and complex design process from abroad to 7 Kolgaon, which combines beauty and usefulness while being realistic and genuine to India’s pervasive and people-centered culture.
